BITS Biomedical successfully concluded the first batch of its Medical Device Risk Assessment and Electrical Safety Testing training in the Philippines on March 26, 2026. The training brought together biomedical professionals from different industries, creating a collaborative space for practical learning and discussion focused on practical risk assessment and electrical safety testing for medical devices.

The program was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge they can apply in real work settings. Its main goal was to help protect patients, ensure the safety of operators, and improve the reliability of medical equipment. The training was led by Mr. Anthony A. Guiang, a Clinical Engineer from the Hospital Engineering and Maintenance Association of the Philippines (HEMAP).

Throughout the session, Mr. Guiang discussed key topics such as risk-based medical equipment management, risk control for life-support devices, electrical safety testing fundamentals, preventive maintenance and CMMS optimization, incident reporting and failure response, cybersecurity for medical devices, proper equipment handling, and compliance with legal and accreditation requirements.

One of the highlights of the training was the live demonstration of electrical safety testing. This gave participants the chance to better understand the process, ask questions, and connect the concepts to actual equipment. The open discussions also encouraged knowledge sharing among attendees, making the session more engaging and practical.

Based on the post-training survey, all participants reported an improved understanding of the topics. They also expressed greater confidence in applying what they learned to their daily responsibilities.

As healthcare technology continues to evolve, the need for proper risk assessment and safety testing becomes even more important. Through initiatives like this, BITS Biomedical hopes to support professionals in staying competent, confident, and prepared to meet industry demands.
