BITS Biomedical: First FDA-Accredited Medical Equipment Electrical Testing in the Philippines
A year has passed since we achieved the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for the testing of medical electrical equipment under the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
Now, we are proud to announce another important milestone!
On August 13, 2026, BITS Biomedical Inc. was granted accreditation by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for electrical testing of medical equipment, covering ground resistance and leakage current testing.
What makes this achievement more special is that BITS Biomedical is the first company in the Philippines to receive FDA accreditation for this specific testing scope.
But what does this really mean?
More Than Just a Test
BITS Biomedical has been providing electrical safety testing for medical equipment even before receiving this accreditation. This doesn’t mean that we can now offer testing services that we couldn’t provide before. Instead, this accreditation adds another level of confidence to a service we have already been providing.
Our testing process, equipment, procedures, methods, and personnel have been formally assessed for this specific scope by the FDA.
For our clients, this means greater assurance in the testing process and in the results they receive. Our accredited test reports can provide reliable documentation to support equipment safety, maintenance, quality, and compliance requirements.
Simply put, when you have your medical equipment tested for ground resistance and leakage current by BITS Biomedical, you now have the added assurance that the laboratory performing these specific tests is FDA-accredited.
Why Electrical Safety Testing Matters
Medical equipment is an integral part of healthcare industry. They operate in an environment where safety matters most, around patients and healthcare professionals. A medical device can look and function perfectly normal while still having an electrical issue that can’t be seen during normal use, and the only way to know is to test it.
Therefore, regular and properly conducted electrical safety testing helps identify potential electrical hazards before they become serious problems.
Ground resistance testing helps assess the effectiveness of the equipment’s protective grounding, while leakage current testing checks for unwanted electrical current that could potentially create a safety concern.
Achieving FDA accreditation for this specific scope demonstrates our commitment to supporting healthcare industry by maintaining a testing process that meets the applicable regulatory and technical requirements.
The Work Behind the Accreditation
Becoming accredited was not simply a matter of submitting documents and receiving a certificate. It meant taking a close look at how we perform our tests, including our methods, procedures, equipment, documentation, and personnel.
As cliché as it sounds, our team worked so hard to make sure that every part of the testing process was properly established, improved, controlled, and ready for assessment.
The FDA accreditation process gave us an opportunity to demonstrate what we already value in our work: testing services, consistent process, proper equipment, and competent personnel. At the same time, the process also helped us recognize areas where we can still improve.
Being First Comes with Responsibility
We are proud to be the first company in the Philippines to receive FDA accreditation for this specific scope.
However, being first comes with responsibility.
It is not simply about recognition or being able to say that we got there first. It is about taking a step forward in medical equipment electrical safety testing and setting a higher standard for our team.
We know that accreditation is not the finish line. We still have to maintain the quality of our work, continue improving our processes, and keep developing our technical capabilities.
Moving Forward
This milestone reflects the work of our entire team and the trust of our partners and clients who have supported us along the way.
We are excited to continue providing electrical safety testing services and to help healthcare facilities keep their medical equipment safe, reliable, and ready for use.
Being first is the milestone, but maintaining the trust that comes with it is the responsibility.
Lastly, this accreditation is another step toward our vision of becoming the largest and most valuable biomedical equipment service company in the Philippines, recognized and accredited in the field where we have built our expertise.
